It’s OK To Be Happy

By

There’s a popular quote that states:
“Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your
attention to other things, it will come and sits on your shoulder”
I would like to say with all sense of humility that its not so, it’s not true.
You can choose to be happy
You can chase down that elusive butterfly and get it to sit on your shoulder.

How? In part, by simply making the effort to monitor the workings of your mind, I believe we can
personally pursue happiness.
Some people try daily to suppress their happiness, because they think it’s not normal.
They think they’ve done so much wrong and only deserve happiness in trickles or think about
everything that’s not going right in their lives and listen to the voice- those ones that remind them
that all their mates have good jobs and they are still looking internship.
The voice which says they’re overweight and single, that level of happiness is only for people with husbands/ wives and kids, or that their rent will be due in a few days and they still haven’t come
up with the funds, so that spark of happiness should be non-existent?

For anyone who has ever felt the need to ask the question, “Is it OK to be happy?”
My answer is a resounding YES.

A conscious decision to stay happy helps us make essential life altering change.
A conscious decision to stay happy renews our mind
We start seeing things differently

We can do this by thwarting negative emotions such as Pessimism, Resentment, Anger.
And we can foster positive emotions such as Empathy, Serenity and Especially Gratitude.

It’s OK to feel like chuckling at the slightest thing, to feel a warmth in your heart that you
cannot explain and to sing out loud and laugh at the ridiculous lyrics of songs.
There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re not living in lala land.
You’re simply making a conscious decision not to be overwhelmed by life situation.
