JEALOUSY: What It Does

By

It lunch hour on Friday, Dami walked into the restaurant, at a table far in the corner of the room, is Yinka, Paul and Henry, all Dami’s close pal and colleague. Dami walked across the restaurant to the table his pals were seated.
To Dami’s amazement, as he sat down to order for his meal, he realized that everybody became quiet and his friends began to walk away one after the other.
An hour later Dami realized that his friends were not comfortable with him at lunch, because Dami’s promotion was announced during the brief morning meeting.
  Does this scenario sound familiar?

Esther 3;2 (KJV), And all the king’s servant that were in the king’s gate, bowed and reverence Haman……But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Haman also had jealousy issues. He descended from the Amalekites-Isreal’s ancient enemies. When the king promoted him to prime minister, he seized his chance for revenge by asking the king to sign a decree killing all the Jews. Because they merciless killed his people, God told Moses to destroy the Amalekite from generation to generation. Haman wouldn’t let go of an ancient battle.

  • Jealousy leads to unforgiveness even when it’s illogical
  • Jealousy is a killer. Relationships end because of jealous conflict and people kill other people because they are jealous
  • Jealousy can result in ungodly and unwise actions
  • Jealousy is not a problem, jealousy is the SYMPTOMS of the problem

Jealousy, like emotions, doesn’t come from nowhere. It comes from a feeling that someone’s needs aren’t being met, or someone feels threatened.
Nothing good ever comes from jealousy.

When dashed dreams or other’s successes cause you to be jealous, thank God instead for controlling your destiny and for not limiting His work to just a few individuals but for using all who are willing.

In my opinion, i’ll say the best way to handle jealousy in our relationship is to talk about your fears openly and immediately. Even if you think, they’re irrational.

People who don’t feel threatened don’t feel jealous.
